Life is something that’s happening all over when you’re stuck in the car…
Drive by out the car window shot, this circle pattern and color way would be my idea for Wonder Bread Lite, the other white bread.
Shoutouts to my boy Ryan Hensley for letting me tag along his shoot this afternoon, always a good time and killer final product.
Once upon a time on East 7th street in what’s now known as the Art’s District of downtown Los Angeles, there was a gem of a "restaurant” named La Reyna. For all my years going there, I don’t recall ever getting the food inside, you ordered from a gas grill outside and when your order was done, you’d then go into the very abandoned looking diner interior and get your grub on. Spent many a late night recovering from twisted adventures with al pastor and asada tacos there. Unfortunately, it’s now an overpriced Hipster taco hellhole. All good things come to an end.
The great thing about street photography is you find yourself in some weird spots, that is, if you’re not shook and willing to risk it all for a shot. This is far from risking it all, but Downtown Los Angeles has some of the wildest grimiest areas I’ve ever seen. I don’t know what exactly goes on here, but I can guess. Especially since the dope boys came out and were scoping us out after I shot this. Nothing a universal “What’s Good?” headnod didn’t take care of.
That One Time In Shibuya
I’m digging this blog thing!
This is my interpretation of 80 degrees and sunny, not sure why I thought of that but there you have it. Maybe the pastels remind me of Miami. Maybe it was 80 degrees and sunny when I shot it.
I’ve posted nearly 7,000 photographs on Instagram over the years, a lot of work I’m very proud of. I played the game, briefly, and found unless I was shooting half naked (or fully naked) women or some goof celebrity - my audience never really to grew past a certain point. The audience gravitates towards the same old cornball “Instagram photos” like burnt out locations that have been shot ten thousand times and the copy cat looks… Real work wasn’t resonating. Probably my fault, but be that as it may if I’m going to post my work anywhere it’s going to be on MY site. Done sharing my images and intellectual property on someone else’s platform. Here’s to the next 7,000 images!
