Life is something that’s happening all over when you’re stuck in the car…
Drive by out the car window shot, this circle pattern and color way would be my idea for Wonder Bread Lite, the other white bread.
Shoutouts to my boy Ryan Hensley for letting me tag along his shoot this afternoon, always a good time and killer final product.
Once upon a time on East 7th street in what’s now known as the Art’s District of downtown Los Angeles, there was a gem of a "restaurant” named La Reyna. For all my years going there, I don’t recall ever getting the food inside, you ordered from a gas grill outside and when your order was done, you’d then go into the very abandoned looking diner interior and get your grub on. Spent many a late night recovering from twisted adventures with al pastor and asada tacos there. Unfortunately, it’s now an overpriced Hipster taco hellhole. All good things come to an end.
The great thing about street photography is you find yourself in some weird spots, that is, if you’re not shook and willing to risk it all for a shot. This is far from risking it all, but Downtown Los Angeles has some of the wildest grimiest areas I’ve ever seen. I don’t know what exactly goes on here, but I can guess. Especially since the dope boys came out and were scoping us out after I shot this. Nothing a universal “What’s Good?” headnod didn’t take care of.
Want to know why I’m so critical about art? I’ve been blessed to always be surrounded by the best in the game, which ever game they may be in. This game here is Graffiti, and it doesn’t get a whole lot better than this group of legends.
